• Anatomy of a Website

    Home Page

This is the first impression of your company’s website. It should be branded to your company. That means using your company’s logo and colors. It should have a few photos that represent your company. It could have a short video to get them to stay longer on your site. This page should contain a brief description of the services and products you offer. It should be friendly and informative. Bullet points also work well on a home page. Most visitors browse a website’s homepage quickly. They look to see if there is any reason for them to go deeper into the site. They want to find this information quickly without being confused by irrelevant distractions.

    About Us

This page contains your company’s history and what make your business unique. This section can be broken down into sub pages that could have staff information, experience, affiliations, etc. A video montage made from your historical photos can help you tell your story.

    Products and Services

You can have multiple pages or pages can be nested or any combination. Visitors should be able to find what they are looking for with minimal clicks. If you have a lot of products and services it best to categorize them and use sub pages. Your product and service pages should have plenty of information. The goal is to give the visitor enough useful information that will lead them to a buying decision. Photos that represent the product and service really help. Videos that showcase your products and services will always generate more conversions.

    Blog

A blog section is a place that you put current information such as an upcoming event, a special you are offering, an educational article that you write, etc. A blog not only gives your customers a reason to return to your website, it is important to search engines. By having regularly updated content on your website search engines re-visit your site and give you a higher ranking. Here is just one money saving way you could use a blog. Instead of mailing a flyer out to your customers, send them an email with a link to the same information posted on your blog.

    Contact Us

This would have your contact information and should have an email form so visitors can send you an email without revealing your email address.
